TWO men accused of stabbing a man, who has now died, have been remanded in custody.
Jack Ryan, 21, and Jess Ryan, 24, were charged with wounding with intent and affray after a man – named locally as George Dagg – was found with a leg wound on June 2.
The 53-year-old was taken to hospital after being found in Purley Road, Plains Farm, at 4.20am on June 2.
He died overnight between Tuesday and today.
The Ryans, both of Toronto Road in Thorney Close, were at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Neither entered any pleas to the charges and the case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court, where they will appear on June 18.
District Judge Helen Cousins said she was aware that Mr Dagg had died overnight and that the charges would need to be amended accordingly when the case was heard in Newcastle.
Both defendants were remanded in custody until then.
