TWO men arrested after a man with learning difficulties was attacked as he walked home from work have been bailed by police.
The Echo reported on Monday that the victim was making his way along the Bonemill Lane, in Harraton, Washington, on Saturday night, when he was approached by a car.
A man is believed to have got out of a car and punched the man, leaving him on the ground and with injuries to his face.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Police were called following an incident between 11.10pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, March 14, in Bonemill Lane, Washington.
“Officers responded to a report of a 54-year-old man who had been assaulted.
“He suffer lascerations to his face and grazing to his forehead.
“Two men aged 22 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of assault and have now been bailed pending further inquiries.”
