TWO men have been arrested after a man was the victim of a street robbery near the Wear Bridge.
It happened between 11.30am and 11.50am on Thursday, April 30, in Bedford Street.
A 21-year-old man was walking north on the south side of the bridge in the underpass when he was approached by two men who threatened him and demanded cash.
However, he managed to walk away from them and nothing was stolen. The man was shaken but otherwise unhurt.
Two men aged 25 and 27 have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and bailed pending further inquiries.
Police are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
