TEMPORARY traffic lights have been stolen from a Sunderland road.

TEMPORARY traffic lights have been stolen from a Sunderland road.

Police are investigating the theft, which happened overnight in Bevan Avenue, Ryhope, between 7am on Friday, January 31, and 7.10pm on Saturday, February 1.

Thieves stole the lights as well as their heavy battery packs.

Officers believe thieves will have used a vehicle to steal them due to their size and weight.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact them.

Also anyone who may have been offered the items for sale.
