Three people have appeared in court after a man was left in hospital with serious injuries.
A 49-year-old man sustained head and body wounds in an alleged assault at Wylam Wharf in Sunderland at around 9.30pm on Monday.
He was taken to hospital with multiple injuries but is now understood to be in a stable condition.
Following the incident, three men were charged with assault and have appeared at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court.
Leslie James Sainston, 30, Philip Hope, 41 and Stephen Blyth, 28, all of High Street East, Sunderland, have been charged with assault .
The case was adjourned and all three have been sent to Newcastle Crown Court where they will next appear on Wednesday, August 28
