THREE people have been arrested after a shopkeeper was forced to beat off armed raiders with a mop.

As reported by the Echo yesterday, armed raiders got more than they bargained for then they demanded cash from shop owner Rasaratnam Rahulan.

Masked raiders, one armed with a pair of scissors, threatened Mr Rahulan – who responded by chasing the pair off with a mop.

The robbers made off with a small amount of cash.

Police have now arrested two men aged 20 and 18, and a male youth aged 16, on suspicion of robbery after the incident, and they are currently in custody helping with enquiries.
