THREE men were arrested after an armed brawl left another with head injuries.
Residents reported men fighting with knives in Westheath Avenue, Grangetown, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The injured man, 32, was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital after the incident at 5am.
His condition is not described as life threatening, but he remained in hospital yesterday as he continued to receive treatment.
Police initially arrested a 21-year-old on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a 25-year-old on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
They were later released with no further action to be taken against them.
A third man, aged 24, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and spent yesterday helping police with their investigations.
