THIEVES killed a ferret and released more from their shed during an allotment raid.
Police are appealing for information after the break ins at an allotment in Hetton.
Between 5pm on Tuesday, November 5, and 9.56am on Wednesday, November 6, three sheds were broken into at the site in Urwin Street.
A police spokesman said: “During the incident, thieves released a number of ferrets from one of the sheds. One of the ferrets was killed by the offenders.
“A suitcase was also stolen. Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
