A teenager suffered a broken jaw after being attacked in Sunderland.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the assault on the teenager.
It happened between 2am and 3am on Sunday, July 5, on Tay Road.
The 17-year-old boy was walking along the street after a night out and had stopped when he saw a group of women fighting in the street.
He then saw a group of men approach and one man came across and attacked him in the street.
The teenager was assaulted and sustained a fractured jaw and facial injuries. He was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital and released following treatment.
The offender is described as a white man in his early 30s, 5ft 10ins, medium build with short brown hair.
Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area, or in either of the groups of people on Tay Road to contact police.
