Teenage Wearside woman appears in court charged with murder

A 19-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man whose body was found at his home in December.

Zoe Warren was arrested earlier this week at an address in the Washington area and was charged with the murder of Mark Shaw, who was known locally as 'Sharky’.

Warren appeared before the magistrates' court in Peterlee earlier today.

She entered no plea to the charge and was remanded in custody.

Warren, whose address in court was given as Hexham, Washington, is now due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Monday.

Kieran Adey, 18, has already appeared in court charged with Mark's murder, and three other people remain on police bail while inquiries continue.

Mr Shaw, 29, died from a stab wound, but had also been subjected to a prolonged assault in his own home, in Pine Street, Grange Villa, near Chester-le-Street.
