CHARGES have been dropped against a schoolgirl accused over an alleged double stabbing.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was said to have attacked a woman and a teenage girl in Hendon in March.
But the case against her was formally discontinued by magistrates sitting at Sunderland Youth Court yesterday.
A spokeswoman for the Crown Prosecution Service said the case against the youth was stopped as there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.
The girl had first appeared before JPs in March, when she was not asked to enter a plea to two offences of wounding with intent and granted bail.
A 35-year-old woman and 16-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
All have been bailed.
