DURHAM police are launching an online rogues gallery for people suspected of committing crimes.
From Monday, CCTV pictures will be available for the public to view, making Durham one of a few forces in the country to take the step.
At any one time it’s expected there will be more than two dozen photos on the “Caught on Camera” page.
Detective Inspector Caroline Dawson, who has been managing the project, said: “Circulating the images of suspects internally has given us a success rate of more than 50 per cent, a figure we are delighted with.
But making these pictures available to the public will give us an opportunity to identify more suspects and clear up more offences.”
The images can be found at www.durham.police.uk.
Anyone who recognises someone in a picture can click on the relevant image and then send an email with details.
