A MAN remains on bail more than a month after a woman was raped in a city cente park.
The victim was attacked in broad daylight in Mowbray Park, Sunderland, on September 22.
Following the arrest of a 26-year-old white European man on September 27, on suspicion of rape, a file of evidence has been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
The CPS will now consider if there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a criminal prosecution.
The arrested man remains on bail pending the CPS decision. At this time the police are not looking to identify any further suspects in connection with this incident.
Specially trained officers are continuing their work with the victim to make sure she has the support she needs at such a distressing time.
