A SUNDERLAND man has been charged as part of a far-reaching sex offences investigation.
Spencer Andrew Barella, 20, from Silksworth, Sunderland, has been charged with rape as part of Operation Sanctuary.
The operation is looking into allegations of sexual offences committed against vulnerable women and girls.
He is the eleventh person to be charged as part of the operation.
He appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and has been bailed to appear at Newcastle Crown Court next Thursday.
