A man has denied trying to murder his wife.
Laurence Crosby is accused of attempting to kill Jean Crosby in an attack at their home in Westgarth Avenue, Grangetown, Sunderland, on May 23.
Appearing at Newcastle Crown Court this morning, the 66-year-old pleaded not guilty to a single charge of attempted murder.
He will be tried by a jury on December 14, in a case expected to last around four days.
Judge Paul Sloan QC granted Crosby bail on condition he live at an address in Sunderland Road, Hawthorn, County Durham.
