Sunderland house attacked by arsonists for second time in four days

POLICE have appealed for help to catch arsonists responsible for two attacks on the same house in the space of four days.

The latest incident happened at 4.56am today at the property in The Retreat, off Chester Road.

A lit item is believed to have been thrown at the rear wall of the address, causing smoke.

No one was injured in the incident.

It follows an earlier incident at the same address, which happened between 5.20am and 5.40am on Friday.

Detective Constable Andrea Smith said: “Inquiries into both incidents are ongoing.

“We appeal for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.

“Officers are in the area speaking with residents and offering reassurance.”
