A CYCLIST remains in a critical condition after the bike he was riding collided with a bus.
The 37-year-old was cycling along Keir Hardie Way in Monkwearmouth when he was hit by a single decker bus, close to the Stadium of Light.
Paramedics were called to the scene and the man was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where he underwent treatment for serious head injuries.
Police closed a section of the road following the accident at about 10.40am on Saturday.
There were no passengers on the bus at the tim.
Keir Hardie Way was closed for two hours to allow officers to investigate the scene.
