AN amputee poked a publican in the eye and assaulted a police officer.
Chris Graham from Sunderland claimed he had drunk most of a bottle of vodka and could not remember the assault, which took place in a Wetherspoons in Eastbourne.
The one-legged 37-year-old, who uses a wheelchair, then used his remaining leg to launch himself at the officer who arrested him, on December 21.
Paul Anderson, prosecuting, said: “When officers were questioning him about the incident, he said, ‘You just do what you have to do’ and leaps out of his wheelchair on one leg and lunges towards one of the officers.
“He said he had drunk three-quarters of a bottle of vodka and could not remember going to the pub, he could not remember his arrest and could not remember assaulting the officer.”
Graham, of Ward Court, pleaded guilty to assault and assaulting a police officer.
Ian Cassidy, defending, said: “There was an incident in this public house and the landlord was poked in the eye.
“The police had no difficulty finding him, as there can’t be many people of his description.”
Graham was fined £75 for each offence by magistrates.
