POLICE hunting a shoplifter want to speak to this man in connection with their inquiries.

Officers are appealing for information after a shoplifter was spotting using his sleeves to conceal an item of clothing he took from a supermarket.

A man was seen to pick the clothing from a stand in Seaham’s Asda store and carry it around the shop before heading to the homeware section.

There, he concealed the goods under his jacket and removed his arm from his sleeve and held it under his coat.

The man then walked out the Byron Place shop without making any effort to pay.

Police said the man responsible was possibly Asian, aged between 55 and 60, was of medium build and had short, thick grey hair.

He wore glasses, a dark suit and a blue shirt open at the neck.

Officers would like to speak to the man pictured as part of inquiries into the theft, which happened at 12.15pm on Tuesday, April 17.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
