THAT’S not a sight you see every day.

Pc Peter Bell was left shell-shocked after stopping two men carrying this giant artillery shell.

Now the beat officer is appealing for the owner of the ornamental shell to come forward.

It’s suspected the item was stolen last Thursday morning from an address in Beachville Street, Eden Vale, or a property somewhere in the surrounding area.

Pc Bell said: “The likelihood is that the artillery shell has been kept in someone’s garden, and it might be they haven’t noticed it’s gone missing.

“If anyone who lives in or around Beachville Street has got one of these shells, I’d urge them to check it’s where they think it is.

“If not, contact police, as this may belong to them.”

Two men, aged 26 and 20, have been arrested on suspicion of theft and released on police bail.
