A SECURITY guard was arrested after police found him in possession of a knuckle duster he had bought on eBay.
Adam Kristensen, 21, was searched by officers in Corporation Road, Hendon, on November 11, finding the implement in his pocket.
Prosecutor Lee Poppett said Kristensen told officers he had it for self-defence as he works as a security officer on industrial premises.
Kristensen, of Bridge View, Dixon Estate, Shotton Colliery, admitted possession of an offensive weapon.
Jackson Taylor, defending, said his client had bought the knuckle duster on online auction site eBay for £5.
He said his employer would not be aware that he had it.
Further, he had forgot that he had it in his pocket when he decided to go out in Sunderland, adding that he did not realise it was an offence.
He was fined £200, with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
