SCRAP dealers have been given community orders after stealing two boilers from homes as they were knocked down.
Arron Straughair, 23, of Brick Court, Houghton, and Scott White, 31, of Potter Square, Plains Farm, were caught on CCTV taking equipment from Reyrolle Court in Hebburn.
Police caught them with the scrap in their van. They pleaded guilty to theft at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court earlier this month and were sentenced following probation reports.
They were given 12-month community orders with supervision and ordered to pay £85 costs and £60 victim surcharges, while Straughair was also told to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.
