DETECTIVES are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a street robbery.

As reported yesterday in the Echo, an 86-year-old businessman had thousands of pounds snatched from him by a thief at midday on Monday.

The victim had got out of his car in Haddon Street, Grangetown, intending to pay in the cash at a nearby Post Office.

But a man snatched the bag from him, before getting into a getaway car driven by another man.

The man who grabbed the bag is described as white, around 18 to 22 years old, and 5ft 3ins to 5ft 4ins tall.

He had a slightly tanned face and was clean shaven with chubby cheeks.

He was wearing a black wool hat which had two white stripes around the bottom, a plain black jacket, black bottoms and trainers.

Witnesses should call 101.
