A WOMAN who bit a steward at Rihanna’s Stadium of Light gig has been spared a jail term.

Jobless Nicola Bradford also hurled racist abuse at John Wilkinson after he and a colleague tried to eject her when she got into an argument over seating arrangements.

She bit Mr Wilkinson so hard through his jacket that she drew blood.

Mr Wilkinson was left with teeth marks on his arm, Sunderland magistrates heard.

She had ranted: “I’ve paid £70 to see that black **** and I’m not going to be told to sit by a black *******. There is no black in the Union Jack.”

The concert, on June 20, was attended by people of all ages, including children, the court heard.

The 37-year-old, of Redwood Grove, Silksworth, who has two previous convictions for assaulting a police officer, later admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress.

Since being before the court last month, she has also received a conditional discharge for criminal damage and allowing premises to be used for drug production.

Duncan Emmerson, mitigating, said Bradford knows her “entrenched views” are not acceptable.

Magistrates jailed Bradford for 20 weeks, suspended for 18 months, during which time she will be supervised by the Probation Service.

She was also told to pay £100 in compensation £85 costs and a £80 victim surcharge.
