A MAN climbed on to a roof and threatened to stab police.
Durham Crown Court heard police were looking for Lee Henderson after he told doctors he was going to get drunk and kill himself.
When spotted, he climbed on to a bungalow roof to avoid arrest on April 23.
Drinking cider, he told police he was going to stab them, before knifing himself in his hand and stomach, causing minor injuries. He threw tiles on to a police car before coming down after four hours.
Henderson, 30, of Gainford, Chester-le-Street, admitted affray, possession of a bladed article and two charges of damaging property.
He also admitted a separate charge of possession of a bladed article on April 6 when he pointed a knife at a woman in Durham City.
He was given two years’ jail suspended for two years, on condition he take part in a one-year mental health treatment programme.
