Police officer in hospital after struggle in Sunderland

A POLICE officer was injured after being called to an incident “involving several males and a passing motorist.”

Police were called to an incident at 8.05pm on Wednesday in Black Road where a 21-year-old man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

A police officer was hurt during a struggle at the scene and was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital to be checked over following the incident.
