Police have launched an appeal for a hit-and-run driver to come forward after two teenagers were hurt in a road crash in Sunderland.

A boy and girl, both 13, were struck by a black vehicle - believed to be similar to a Peugeot 207 - on Gorse Road at 8.20am on Friday, May 27.

The girl suffered considerable bruising while the boy suffered a hairline fracture to his foot.

The driver drove off from the scene without stopping.

she is described as a white female with blonde hair in her late 20s.

There was also a black male in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.

Officers are carrying out inquiries in connection with the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
