POLICE are hunting a gang of youths in tracksuits and caps after a house raid in Sunderland.
The incident happened in Granville Street, Sunderland, at about 4.28pm yesterday when intruder forced a ground floor front window to the house, damaging window blinds, and went inside.
He stole a mobile phone and was disturbed by a passerby who shouted at him. He made off with a group of four other youths on foot.
The youths are described as all white men aged approximately 18 to 20 years, wearing tracksuits and caps.
Police attended and searched the area but the youths had already left. Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area.
Neighbourhood Inspector Mick Hall said: “We’re asking for anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact police.
“We also want to remind people to keep valuables out of sight, from ground floor windows, if possible, to help prevent crime.”
