POLICE are appealing for information after a bag left on a Metro was stolen.

 The handbag, containing items including a wallet, keys and a travel card, was left on the train travelling from Sunderland to South Hylton.

 The victim realised she had left the bag when she got off at Sunderland and alerted staff.

 The train was searched and the lost property office checked, but they were unable to find it.

 Staff trawled through CCTV and saw a man picking up the bag, looking through it and putting it up his jumper.

 Officers have now released CCTV footage of a man, pictured above, they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

 Pc Graham Marshall said: “We believe the man pictured boarded the train at Park Lane and got off at Millfield.”
