Police are hunting a man who headbutted a boy in a Sunderland street

A 15-year-old boy has been headbutted and punched by a man in a Sunderland street.

The assault happened in Chiswick Road, Hylton Castle, and left the boy with minor injuries. The man drove off in a silver 04 registration Audi saloon.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at 6pm on Saturday.

The man is described as white, in his 40s, 5ft 10in tall and of stocky/large build. He was wearing a grey t-shirt with an army veteran logo on, dark Adidas tracksuit bottoms and trainers.
