Two men have been released on bail after 200 cannabis plants were recovered by police at a garage unit in Sunderland
The plants have an estimated street value of half a million pounds, and were found following execution of a search warrant in Dubmire, Houghton.
Officers carried out the search on Saturday and arrested two men, who have since been released on police bail.
Detective Inspector Paul Stewart is urging the public to contact the police if they have any information about those who are using or supplying drugs.
He said: "Officers executed a search warrant on Saturday which saw a huge amount of cannabis with a substantial street value recovered and two men arrested.
"This is great news - we have dismantled a cannabis farm and prevented an illegal drug from reaching the streets.
"It is well known that drugs and drug use brings misery to those who have to put up with the associated crime and anti-social behaviour.
"We're committed to tackling its use and supply and anyone with information about those involved in such activity should contact police. It's vital information is passed on to us so we can take the appropriate action."
