A MUM has admitted neglecting her child after an eagle-eyed nursery nurse spotted bruises on her toddler daughter.

Emily Moore pleaded guilty to two charges of assault causing actual bodily harm at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court.

Moore, from Grindon in Sunderland, also admitted a charge of child neglect.

Jeanette Smith, prosecuting, told the court that all the offences took place between October and November 2012.

Moore’s solicitor, Tony Southwick, said the 20-year-old was pleading guilty on a basis that a third party had caused some of the bruises.

He added that she accepted that she had failed to seek treatment quickly for the two-year-old.

Mr Southwick told magistrates that Children’s Services were involved in the case.

Magistrates adjourned sentencing the case for the Probation Service to prepare pre-sentence reports about Moore, of Guernsey Square.

Chairman of the bench Keith Emmerson warned her that he was looking at all options for ways of dealing with Moore, including custody.

She was released on bail until April 2, when it is expected she will be sentenced.
