A MAN accused of shooting dead his parents boasted he was going to use a large inheritance to set his schoolboy son up in business just weeks before their murders, a court heard.
Their son – Stephen ‘Nic’ Seddon, 46 – denies murdering them in order to get his hands on a £230,000 inheritance.
Just three months earlier, he had been lauded a hero after pulling the couple and his disabled nephew Daniel, 17, from the Bridgewater Canal after the hired BMW he was driving them in plunged into the water.
It is alleged the car crash was a botched attempt to kill his mum and dad – who bought their unemployed son a £90,000 home in Seaham, County Durham, the months before their deaths.
Manchester Crown Court has now heard that Mr Seddon had met with teachers at the boy’s school in May to talk about the ‘disruptive’ behaviour of his son 13-year-old son.
A family behavioural manager at the school told the jury that the meeting went ‘off on a tangent’ as Mr Seddon talked about using a large inheritance to help his son. She said: “He said he was due to come into some money and he’d be able to sort (his son) out. Later on he said the money was due to come from an inheritance, that it was a lot of money and that he would use it to reward (his son) if he behaved at school.”
Mr Seddon denies two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
