A motorcyclist has denied causing the death of a pensioner in a road smash.
Mary Gray was injured while out walking at South Hetton Road, Easington Lane, on May 20 last year.
The 76-year-old was airlifted to hospital in Middlesbrough, but later died.
At Newcastle Crown Court today, David Marriner, 41, of Frederick Street, South Hetton, pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
His case will be back in court on July 3.
Judge Paul Sloan QC granted Marriner bail until the next hearing.
