A distraught mum is appealing for the public’s help to find her son who has been missing for more than a week.
Callum Young was last seen at his shared bedsit in Hylton Road, Sunderland, on the afternoon of Thursday, August 27.
The 22-year-old, who has three sisters and a brother, has not been seen or heard from since and his mum Colleen, who also lives in Sunderland, is worried something may have happened to him.
The 43-year-old said: “He’s a mammy’s boy, he never ever does this. I would have definitely heard from him by now.
“I see him or speak to him every single day and he always calls to tell me where he is if he’s stayed out at a friend’s house or anything like that.
“I’m really worried that something has happened to him, everything is going through my mind.
He would have definitely been in touch with me by now usually. The police have searched his home and there’s still nothing. It’s like he’s just vanished.Colleen Young, Callum’s mum
“I’ve been in touch with all his friends and nobody has seen him or heard from him. He always has his mobile on him and he always answers it when I call, but it’s been turned off since he went missing. He always keeps in touch.”
She added: “He would have definitely been in touch with me by now usually. The police have searched his home and there’s still nothing. It’s like he’s just vanished.
“I just want him home, this is not normal behaviour for him. If I could speak to Callum, I’d just ask him to come home or call and let me know that he’s OK. We just want him to come home – everyone is missing him.”
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a missing Sunderland man.
