METAL fencing worth £500 has been stolen from a park.
Staff based at Woodhouse Park in Peterlee had put the four sections mesh panels next to a storage building as they prepared to work on the barriers.
Police say the fencing would have had to be passed over the perimeter of the park because its gates had been shut for the night.
Officers investigating the theft have carried out house-to-house inquiries and made checks with scrapyards to try to trace the stolen pieces, along with whoever is responsible for the theft. It happened between 10.20pm on Tuesday, May 28, and 4.40am the following day, but police have only just released details.
