TWO people have been arrested and drugs recovered after a car was stopped in Sunderland.
The car was stopped at 10.50pm on Friday, March 7, in Portsmouth Road, the vehicle was searched and a quantity of drugs were found and recovered by police.
As a result, a house in Pennywell was also searched and more drugs were found.
The drugs – believed to be cocaine – are thought to have a street value of £7,500.
Two men, aged 47 and 38, have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences and are helping police with their enquiries. They have been released on police bail.
Superintendent Jim Napier, of Sunderland Area Command, said: “The harm drugs cause to those who take them as well as the people around them is well documented and we will continue to work with other agencies to tackle the issue.
“On a daily basis, officers will routinely target those suspected of being involved in drugs and drugs supply to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs.”
