A MAN has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in a vicious street attack.
The 44-year-old man was left with a wound to his thigh after he was assaulted in Sunderland in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Detectives investigating the stabbing have said it took place in the Castletown area of the city at about 1am.
The victim was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where he was released after treatment for his injuries, which are said not to be life threatening.
His attacker made off following the attack in Ravenna Road and is now being hunted by police.
Officers are making inquiries in the area and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
A 21-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
