Man stabbed in Boldon Colliery

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 50-year-old man was stabbed.

The incident happened at 12.22am this morning in New Road, Boldon Colliery, when the man was stabbed in the shoulder.

He was taken to South Tyneside Hospital where his injury is not thought to be life-threatening.

Two people have been arrested and are currently in police custody.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and a 28-year-old woman on suspicion of affray. It’s believed those involved in the incident are known to each other.

Police are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and additional officers are on patrol to reassure the community. If anyone has any concerns about this incident they should speak to local officers.
