Man’s ear bitten off in Sunderland attack

A MAN had his ear bitten off after an attack in Hetton.

The 24-year-old was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment after the assault, which happened just before 5.10am today at an address in Cragdale Gardens.

The lower part of his ear was bitten off during the attack.

Inquiries are now underway to trace the person responsible for the assault and police are keen to hear from anyone with information.

Acting Detective Sergeant Nick Lawrance, from Northumbria Police’s Major Crime Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to trace the person responsible for this attack who is believed to be known to the victim.

“I’d ask anyone who spotted him entering the address or knows the person responsible and his whereabouts to come forward.”
