A SECOND man has been charged with an attack which has left a father-of-two fighting for his life.
Andrew Ford, 34, was found by police with a serious head injury at his home in Second Street, Blackhall, in the early hours of Tuesday, June 5.
Mr Ford was taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough where he is being treated for his injuries.
Last week, 20-year-old Christopher Hilton, from Brandlings Way, Peterlee, appeared at the town’s magistrates court charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Ford.
He was remanded in custody and is due before Durham Crown Court on Friday, June 29.
Detectives arrested 27-year-old Paul Michael Bishop, who is from Blackhall but currently of no fixed abode, in connection with the incident in Second Street.
He appeared before the same magistrates’ court to face the same allegation. He was remanded in custody and will appear before Durham Crown Court on Wednesday.
Two other men, aged 30 and 32, who were arrested shortly after the incident, remain on police bail while inquiries continue.
