A MAN is due to appear in court charged with four counts of assault after he was arrested following a disturbance at a block of flats.
Police were called to Waterloo Walk in Usworth, Washington, at 3.15pm on Saturday following reports of a man threatening to harm himself.
Negotiators were called to the house and police say a man was then brought to safety.
The Echo understands he had been threatening to jump from the building.
A 23-year-old man was later arrested and charged with four counts of common assault.
He is due to appear before Sunderland Magistrates’ Court today.
