A MAN who wielded a golf club in a Seaham street has been jailed for four months.
James Brown picked up the driver after someone hit him outside The Avenue bar, Durham Crown Court heard.
Paul Currer, prosecuting, said: “It seems Brown was assaulted as he was standing in the outside smoking area.
“He picked up the metal driver and chased after the other man.”
Brown, 38, of Alfred Street, Seaham, admitted affray. Stephen Constantine, defending, said: “The attack on him was unprovoked. The golf club had been discarded by someone else.
“He picked it up, but there was no attempt to swing the club at anybody.
“This offence put him in breach of his licence for a sentence for robbery. He has been recalled to prison, and his sentence expires on October 18.”
