A MAN has been arrested after another man was attacked with a suspected Samurai sword.
Police were called to a house in Laburnum Avenue, off Vigo Lane in Harraton, Washington, at around noon today after reports of an assault.
A man was taken to hospital suffering from minor injuries, while 26-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody.
Northumbria Police believe the two men are known to each other and say officers are in the area carrying out inquiries and providing reassurance to residents.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen a man with a Samurai sword in the area after the incident or anyone who finds a sword in the area.
