A MAN was taken to hospital after he was attacked and robbed in a Sunderland street.

Police were called to Front Road, Ford Estate at 8.55pm yesterday, following reports of a disturbance.

They found a 45-year old man had been attacked in the street and robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.

The injured man was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital where he received treatment for injuries to his hands and face.

Police are carrying out enquiries in the area and additional officers are on patrol to reassure the community.

Three people, two women aged 27, and a man aged 38, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and are in custody helping police with their enquiries.
