Man in court over Sunderland stabbing

A MAN has appeared in court charged with stabbing another man at a Sunderland house.

Police said that officers and paramedics were called to an address in Claremont Terrace, Ashbrooke, at 4.30am on Thursday.

A 29-year-old man was found stabbed inside.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is now in the Freeman in Newcastle.

His condition is said to be stabled.

Lee Johnson, 33, appeared before Sunderland Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Johnson, of Claremont Terrace, was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday, March 20.
