A DRUNKEN man allegedly groped and simulated sex with a woman after telling her he had nowhere to stay.

Shaun Tinkler made contact with the woman when his girlfriend was away for the evening watching a Sunderland AFC match, Durham Crown Court heard.

“It’s accepted he had about eight to 10 pints and was drunk,” said Joanne Kidd, prosecuting. “The woman invited him to her house to use the spare room.

“Her partner was out, but was due to return later that evening.

“At first Tinkler’s behaviour didn’t cause her any concern, but his mood changed and he said to the woman he knew she wanted him and he wanted her.”

She added: “It was while the woman was in the kitchen that the defendant attempted to simulate sex with her.”

Tinkler, 24, of Dudden Close, Peterlee, denies two charges of sexual assault by touching.
