A MAN has appeared in court after two men were glassed during New Year’s Eve celebrations at a Sunderland club.

One 24-year-old reveller suffered an injury to his arm during the alleged attack at the Basement and Utopia Bar in Green Terrace, just after 2am on New Year’s Day.

A second man, also aged 24, was left with an injured finger.

Dominic Ricky Hanson was brought before city magistrates today after being charged with two offences of wounding with intent.

Wearing a dark jumper and watched by his friends and family, Hanson spoke only to confirm his name and home address of Scoresby Close in Southwick, Sunderland.

A bail application by his solicitor Kate Meek was refused.

Magistrates said the case could only be dealt with at crown court.

Hanson was remanded in custody until a hearing at Newcastle Crown Court later this month.
