A MAN who had to be talked down from a roof has been arrested on suspicion of blackmail and threats to kill.
The man clambered to the top of a three-story flat in Aberdare Road in Farringdon, after police officers were called out to the street.
Two crews from nearby North Moor fire station arrived at the scene to assist police by providing ladders so that the man could climb down.
A spokeswoman from Northumbria Police said: “A man was successfully talked down from a roof after a few minutes of protest.”
The stand-off took place just after 8.30pm on Thursday and was resolved at about 10.30pm.
