Man has jaw broken in Sunderland street attack

Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Sunderland, suffering a broken jaw.

The incident happened at around 4.36am on Sunday, May 22, in Derwent Street in the city centre.

A man approached the 41-year-old male and attacked him causing him to fall to the ground.

He suffered a broken jaw and is receiving hospital treatment for his injuries.

The offender is described as an Asian male, in his early thirties, slim build and approximately 5ft 6in tall.

He was wearing a white t-shirt with a black and white shirt over the top and blue jeans.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident and are asking witnesses to get in contact.
